Cheminées Poujoulat - 2011
Construction of Cheminée Poujoulat, Bernard Stamm's IMOCA 60 for the 2012 Vendée Globe.
A long lasting friendship
It was Marc Edouard Landolt who enabled Bernard Stamm to build his first IMOCA 60 and get to the start line of the 2000 « Vendée Globe ». The two men already had a long term relationship and shared mutual apreciation. Bernard Stamm, as a young man was working at “l’Abordage”, a local boatyard, after his years in the merchant marine. There he worked on the maintenance of Mr Landolt’s boat, skippered at the time by Bertrand Cardis, founder of Decision S.A…
When Marc Edouard Landolt passed away, his brother Pierre wished to perpetuate the tradition and decided, through the family foundation, to finance the construction of Bernard’s new IMOCA 60.
It appeared natural for Bernard Stamm and Pierre Landolt to come to DECISION for the construction of the 60 footer : “It’s a joint project of a group of friends” says Bertrand Cardis. So, the family Sandoz foundation became the ship-owner of the new 60 footer. As soon as the boat was built, another faithful partner, Cheminée Poujoulat, the long-time sponsor of the Swiss skipper, joined the project to support Bernard’s sports program.
